Our customer Bob approached is with the requirement for a long double carport at the rear of his property, but so that the canopy can cover two cars, one in front of another. As a result of this, the canopy needed to be 8.5 metres long in order to cover both cars, but only 3.5 metres wide.
First of all, aesthetics were critical for Bob as the canopy would be visual to the rest of Bobs neighbors even though the canopy is at the rear of the house. In addition, the long double carport is also visible from Bob’s windows.
The initial visit was extremely easygoing. After measuring up and taking into consideration the surroundings, we could design a canopy which best suited the surroundings. We could position specific legs and downpipes to compliment the fencing on one side and small wall on the other side.
Our bespoke design protects the two vehicles from the mass amount of surrounding trees, whilst fitting perfectly into the area.
In addition to this, we could offer Bob even more coverage at the front of the canopy by suggesting that the polycarbonate roof could overhang, which he was very happy with.
The long double carport drawings were signed off and Bob chose RAL No.9005 (Jet Black) as the colour for his canopy to be powder coated in. This helped the canopy blend in to the surrounding vegetation and gravel car park whilst also offering a modern elegant finish.
He chose Bronze polycarbonate for the roof to shade the vehicles and soften the overall look. Another benefit of Bronze polycarbonate is that because its darker, it hides bird excrement, fallen debris and leaves from trees much better than clear polycarbonate does.
Once a manufactured date had been confirmed, the installation team arranged to do the groundworks and deliver the canopy in preparation for the installation.
We had planned two days for installation, mainly down to the travel time to site from the factory. Two days was more than sufficient as our professional installation team worked tirelessly.
Once we started the installation the canopy took shape quite quickly and by the end of the first day, the complete frame was bolted together and squared up. The second day involved glazing the canopy frame with the multiwall polycarbonate, checking/securing all fixings, tidying and wiping down. In conclusion, it was evident when doing the final walk round with Bob that he was extremely happy with his long double canopy.
