Phil, our customer and proud owner of The Station Hotel in Telford wanted a social canopy to please his regulars. The social canopy needed to be a top of the range, value for money, and stylish structure. We provided a solution that was perfectly compliant with the space available.
Firstly, the social canopy would allow more of Phil’s customers to have a drink outside in the beer garden as part of it would now be protected and undercover. Phil was concerned about the strength of the canopy and therefore the safety of his customers due to high winds in the area. Each canopy that we install comes with full structural calculations from our structural engineers. As a result, we can guarantee that they are a safe, secure, and a substantial product. We provided further reassurance by informing Phil that his steel canopy would be hot-dip galvanised which means it is resistant to corrosion and powder coated to match Phil’s colour requirements.
Designing the canopy was relatively complicated but something we are used to. Cranked posts were used on one side of the canopy to allow Phil to open the window that is positioned where the gutter would have been if the posts weren’t cranked. In addition, the cranked posts were wall attached unlike the posts on the opposite side, which were bolt to surface.
The final drawings were signed off by Phil and he wanted the structure to be powder coated in Pure white (RAL 9010). Phil took a practical approach and chose clear polycarbonate for the roof glazing, which would allow the maximum amount of light transmission.
Once a manufactured date had been confirmed, a suitable date was arranged for the canopy to be delivered and erected. Installation of the canopy was straightforward and due to the simplicity of the space.
In conclusion, the Kappion fitting team used all of its experience and expertise and the social canopy was installed in just one day. Upon completion of the installation, we had a final wipe down and hand over with Phil, who was extremely happy with the finished product and the professional service that was delivered from the initial inquiry all the way to the installation.
