This week, our team was in Sevenoaks to complete a fantastic project for our customer, Simon. He had the ideal spot adjacent to his garage and was looking for a high-quality solution to create a comfortable, protected space for his new vehicle.
The solution was one of our striking Offset H-Curve canopies, perfectly tailored to the specific dimensions and constraints of his driveway.
Ample Room for Comfort
A primary requirement for Simon was space. He needed a covered area that allowed for complete freedom of movement around the vehicle. We installed a generous 4-metre wide canopy, which provides ample room to fully open car doors on both sides without ever needing to be “mindful of the doors” or worrying about dings against the structure.
Smart Integration: The Offset Design
The standout feature of this installation is how the canopy integrates with the existing property. As you can see in the photo, this is an “Offset” H-Curve. The curve of the canopy deliberately overshoots the existing garage roofline to bridge the gap between the new structure and the house.
To achieve a seamless connection, we utilised a bespoke technique: chamfering the ends of the carport rafters. By cutting the rafter ends to match the exact angle of the existing garage roofline, the canopy sits perfectly tight against the build. This is a preferred method when we want to bridge a gap effectively without the need to fix intrusive trims or apply sealant directly to the customer’s property to create a watertight solution.
Maximising Driveway Space
Simon desired maximum usable floor space on the gravel driveway. To achieve this, we carefully positioned the supporting posts. As seen on the left of the image, the posts are tucked neatly into the existing hedge, keeping the main thoroughfare clear.
Furthermore, to accommodate the shape of the building, we perfectly “cranked” (angled) the posts around the corner of the brick garage. This clever engineering ensures the structure is robust while intruding as little as possible into the parking area.
The result is a stunning, highly functional canopy that looks like a natural extension of the home.
