From the courtesy of the first telephone conversation, the initial design stage and choice of beautiful materials (anthracite steel posts and thermowood sides), coordination with structural engineers on what proved to be a slightly complex project (car port on a hill above the sea!) and right up to the very friendly and efficient installation team, we had such a good experience with Kappion. The lead contractor working in our garden has told us that so many people have stopped to remark on how good the car port looks – it is a real asset to our neighbourhood and we will never tire of looking at it.

Wonderful result, my only wish is that you provided the whole service (the base) as this would go been easier for us. However a great job and when we finish off the back of ours as we are on a slope it will look better. No options for the back aesthetically were given at the time of design and it would have been helpful to have done this then rather than considering this retrospectively. overall a great service and we are extremely happy with the carport, it feels very grown up to be parking in it!!

WOW these Carports from Kappion are absolutely stunning, solid and very high quality. We are so pleased with ours. Dealing with Kappion has been easy from the initial contact, to sales, admin and installation. Matt and Leon fitted our carport; it was a real pleasure having these guys at our home. They made a lovely job, were professional and always had a smile on their face, even in the rain. After a lot of research I decided that Kappion were the best choice for us. From start to finish I could not fault them. Issie the Project Manager provided regular communication and was always available to answer queries. Gary Conway surveyed the site and provided accurate LiDAR based 3-D video of the canopy. Gary and Riley fitted the canopy today and I was very impressed by the quality of their work, thoroughness and tidiness. The canopy is very sturdily constructed to close tolerances and is obviously built to last. Thanks again to the team!

From the outset we were impressed by Tim’s approach and no pressure sales. The investment in our car port was quite substantial for us and of course we had concerns, but we quickly had confidence in Kappion given Tim’s honest and transparent approach. The product is very robust indeed and the finished look is amazing. The fitters were incredibly professional and a pleasure to have on site. But what really shows the integrity/quality of a company is how they follow up on issues after the sale. We had a minor matter which was dealt with swiftly and without question. I have just had my Kappion carport fitted and I am so pleased with the finished article. It is just how the survey showed it, and we were constantly updated with the progress of our order by Alistair and Issie.. It was on time, and fitted in less time than was estimated. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for a 2 car carport?

In most cases, no. Carports are generally considered “outbuildings” and fall under Permitted Development rights, meaning you do not need formal planning permission as long as you meet these key conditions:

Location: It must not be built in front of the principal elevation of your house (it cannot be closer to the road than the front of your home).
Height: Maximum height of 2.5 metres if built within 2 metres of a property boundary.
Maximum height of 4 metres for a dual-pitched (apex) roof, or 3 metres for any other roof type, if built further than 2 metres from a boundary. Eaves must be no higher than 2.5 metres.
Size/Coverage: Your carport, combined with any other outbuildings or extensions, must not cover more than 50% of the total land around your original house.
Design: It must be single-storey and cannot include verandas, balconies, or raised platforms higher than 0.3m.
Exceptions: You will likely need to apply for planning permission if you live in a Conservation Area, National Park, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), or if your home is a Listed Building.

How long does it take to manufacture and install a 2 car carport?

From drawing sign off, through fabrication to installation it is around 12-14 weeks.

Can it be attached to my house or must it be freestanding?

Yes it can be attached, it’s up to whatever the space dictates.

What are the exact dimensions required for a 2 car carport?

Usually we recommend a 6m x 6m (6 metres wide by 6 metres long) carport for two cars. We are a bespoke steel carport manufacturer so we can tailor the sizes to your requirements.

What is the length of the warranty?

Our carports are engineered for ultimate durability and backed by standard structural guarantees for your peace of mind:

10-Year Warranty: On all polycarbonate roof glazing.
5-Year Warranty: On the steel structure.

Built for a Lifetime: While our standard structural warranty is 5 years, our carports are built to last far longer. Every steel frame receives a dual-layer treatment of hot-dip galvanising and architectural powder coating totaling 160 microns of protection. This high-specification barrier prevents rust and corrosion, giving our steel structures an expected lifespan of up to 70 years inland.
