Motorhome Canopy Installed Manchester

Robin & Kathy, our client wanted a motorhome canopy installed to cover their sizeable motorhome to help protect the vehicle from the elements and large tree located at the rear of the parking space.

Aesthetics were critical for Robin because the motorhome and canopy would be very close to the road and it would be the first thing that you see when turning into the road, so highly visible and quite tall. This also meant there could be planning permission issues.

We went and visited Robin and Kathy to discuss the canopy. The motorhome canopy install itself was going to be straight forward but leg placement was going to be critical, due to a manhole drain, the garden wall and Robin’s motorhome turning circle.

Whilst Robin went through planning permission with the local authority, we were able to assist by providing draft CAD drawings, photos and structural information to help with the planning process. Once planning permission had been granted, Robin was eager to move to the next stage, place an official order and request production CAD drawings.

Due to the planning process the drawings were readily available and straight forward, Robin signed the drawings of quite quickly and chose RAL No. 7016 (Anthracite Grey), this was to help blend in with the surrounding trees/garden and driveway. They chose Bronze polycarbonate for the roof to shade the vehicle and soften the overall look.

Once a manufactured date had been confirmed, the Kappion installation team arranged to complete the groundworks and deliver the canopy in preparation for the installation.

We had planned two days for installation, mainly down to the travel time to site from our head office and the height of the canopy. The height of the canopy, the garden wall and the unevenness of the ground were always going to be factors which would initially slow the installation process down, but these weren’t problems, they were just challenges that the team had to overcome.

By the end of the first very wet (the team were soaked) day, the roof structure was glazed and thanks to our specialised lifting equipment, the canopy was secured. The second day involved checking all the fixings, fitting the downpipes and securing the final footplates.

We needed to revisit the canopy a few days later to seal the guttering which we weren’t able to do due to a very wet two days of installation.
