522 Square Metres of Canopy Added in Coalville

Our construction client, on behalf of Motability, contacted Kappion after the architect specified us for a new site in Coalville. They needed to add a wash bay canopy and inspection canopy to the project.

Kappion’s team recently completed a monumental project: two massive canopies, spanning a combined 522 square meters, dedicated to vehicle washing and inspection. While not our most technically complex undertaking, it’s certainly our most extensive in terms of sheer scale. This state-of-the-art facility, commissioned by Motability in Coalville, is designed to process a staggering 200,000 vehicles annually, preparing them for resale.

A Meticulous Approach to Longevity

To ensure a durable and long-lasting solution, we employed a rigorous construction process. Each of our canopies undergoes the following:

• Precision Fabrication: Steel components are meticulously cut, drilled, and welded.
• Corrosion Protection: Hot-dip galvanization provides superior protection against the elements.
• Durable Finish: Powder coating in RAL 7106, applied to a thickness of 80 microns, delivers a robust and attractive finish.
• Quality Assurance: Rigorous quality checks guarantee the highest standards.

Optimal Lighting and Durability

The roof, glazed with Opal structured polycarbonate, strikes the perfect balance. It filters harsh sunlight, preventing glare and heat buildup, while allowing ample natural light for clear visibility during inspections, photography, and washing.

A Herculean Lifting Task

The sheer size of these canopies necessitated specialized equipment. Our trusty Spider Crane, Sammy, played a pivotal role in lifting the heavy components into place. The ten-day installation process also involved the deployment of Genie Lifts, Scissor Lifts, and supporting trestles.
