Our customer Geoff approached us with the requirement of a carport which he wanted installed to the left side of his property. Geoff wanted his carport to run the full length of his driveway. In addition, he wanted it to be wall-attached to maximise the available space underneath the carport.
The wall-attached canopy would meet all of Geoff’s needs by providing a solution that perfectly complimented his propert. Our solution would provide premium coverage and protection in the area where he parks his vehicles.
Shortly after we received Geoff’s enquiry, our project manager organised a suitable date for one of our surveyors to visit Geoff’s property. During our survey we took a detailed scan of the area using our high-tech scanning equipment. This allowed us to design the carport so that it would fit the space perfectly and avoid any downpipes, cabling, light fixtures ect.
As Geoff’s driveway slops back to front, we would need to install his downpipe to the front of the carport. All rain water will then exit from the front face of the post and travel down his driveway into his existing aco drain.
After noticing that the roof line changed half way down the carport we had to change the design. In fact, we had to incorporate custom cranked posts and rafters to keep the carport enclosed and as close to his wall as possible. Furthermore, the rafters near the end of the carport had to be slightly shorter. Designing the canopy was relatively straightforward and was only restricted by a few objects that we had to avoid.
Geoff was happy to sign the production drawings off and he chose for his structure to be powder coated in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) as he wanted it to match his new windows and doors. He went on to select clear polycarbonate for the roof glazing in order to keep the carport light and airy.
Once we had a manufacture completion date, our project manager arranged a suitable date for our fitters to deliver and erect the carport. The installation of the canopy was as straightforward as expected and we didn’t encounter any obstacles.
In conclusion, the Kappion fitting team used all of their experience and expertise during this speedy installation and it was complete within just two days. Our installation team had a final wipe down and hand over with Geoff and he was extremely happy with the finished product. Not only carport but the professional service that was delivered from the initial enquiry.
