We’re excited to share the details of our latest project: a robust, all-weather wash bay canopy recently completed in the Midlands. While the location remains confidential at the request of the client—a major Car Manufacturer—the functionality and quality of the finished structure speak for themselves.
The Challenge: Protecting People and Productivity
Valeting vehicles is a crucial, year-round process. However, constant exposure to the elements—driving rain, high winds, and strong sun—makes this task inefficient and uncomfortable for staff. Our goal was to deliver a solution that provides a fully protected, all-weather working environment, ensuring comfort and maximum operational throughput, regardless of the forecast.
The Solution: Heavy-Duty, Enclosed Design
This structure was engineered for durability and maximum protection:
- Size: The canopy offers substantial space, measuring 6.4 metres wide by 8.4 metres deep. This generous footprint easily accommodates multiple vehicles and technicians.
- Protection: To shield staff from persistent lateral weather, the bay is expertly enclosed on three sides using durable structured polycarbonate.
- Roofing: The roof is glazed with structured polycarbonate, which allows for ample natural light to penetrate while mitigating harsh glare and UV rays.
- Structure & Finish: Built to last, the steel construction received a multi-stage protective treatment. It was hot dip galvanised for superior rust and corrosion resistance, and then finished with a sleek RAL 9005 Jet Black powder coating for a professional, durable aesthetic. The canopy stands at 2.8 metres high at the eaves (the lowest point).
A key part of the seamless execution was the pre-installation work; we were able to begin the build immediately upon arrival thanks to the expertly installed concrete pad provided by a contractor for the site.
The Result: A Game Changer for Valeting
This new custom canopy now provides the Car Manufacturer with a dedicated, reliable space for vehicle preparation. By protecting the valeting team from the rain and beating sun, the facility can maintain consistent quality and speed throughout the entire year. It’s a perfect example of how a custom-engineered canopy can transform an outdoor workspace into a high-efficiency, all-weather operational area.
