Two years ago, we headed out to Powys to help Chris solve a common problem: how to protect his absolute pride and joy—his motorhome—without cluttering up his driveway with a bulky, industrial-looking structure. Today, we’re checking back in, and we’re thrilled to say the canopy is still looking as “day-one” perfect as ever.
The Perfect Match: 8019 Mahogany Brown
When it comes to home improvements, “blending in” is often the highest form of praise. Chris wanted a solution that didn’t just function well but looked like it belonged there from the start.
We opted for 8019 Mahogany Brown for the frame. This wasn’t a random choice; it was carefully selected to:
- Mirror the existing aesthetic: It perfectly matches the home’s windows and doors.
- Complement the landscape: The deep, earthy tones sit beautifully against the lush Powys countryside and the surrounding greenery.
Intelligent Design for Easy Parking
A motorhome is a significant investment, and the last thing you want to worry about is clipping a support post while trying to park after a long road trip.
To make Chris’s life easier, we designed a seamless quarter-curve canopy with a clever structural twist:
- Wall-Attached: One side is secured directly to the house, removing the need for posts on the wall side.
- Zero Obstructions: By eliminating wall-side posts, we created a wide-open space for stress-free parking and maneuvering.
- Hidden Strength: The three main support posts are tucked away neatly within the shrubbery, giving the canopy a “floating” appearance while maintaining rock-solid stability.
Defeating the Welsh Elements
If you live in Powys, you know the weather doesn’t play around. From relentless rain to the occasional heavy snow, a canopy here needs to be more than just a sunshade.
This installation features an internal downpipe system that keeps the silhouette clean. Instead of a messy external pipe, the rainwater is channeled through the frame and exits discreetly into the shrubbery.
Two years of Welsh winters later, the structure remains a fortress for Chris’s motorhome, keeping it dry, clean, and shielded from the elements year-round.
