Jonathan at Lovell Homes approached us with a need of 2 free-standing carports to be installed at their new site housing estate in Kirkcaldy. Lovell wanted the free-standing carport canopies to cover the parking space area at the front of each bungalow. The parking area is a clear open space, making it a nice and easy install.
The carport needed to be free-standing and supported with four posts in the ground. The simplicity of the design made it a very easy process. With the ground level varying in height, this complicated things a little, but that is nothing we couldn’t overcome.
Following Lovell’s acceptance of our final price, we engineered the CAD drawings and got them sent over to Jonathan to make sure that he was happy with our design and dimensions. Jonathan signed the final drawings off quickly as our free-standing carport designs were very straight-forward.
Jonathan asked for the structures to be powder coated in ‘Jet Black Fine Textured’ (RAL 9005), which would complement the surroundings, buildings and vehicles being covered. Whilst the colour looks contemporary, there are a total of 1,625 colours that our canopies can be powder coated in.
Jonathan went ahead and chose opal polycarbonate for the roof glazing which would keep the canopy light and airy. Once a manufactured delivered date had been confirmed, the installation team arranged a suitable date for the canopy to be delivered and erected.
Installation of the free-standing canopy was straight-forward as the carport was free-standing and the groundworks weren’t too complicated. Our fitting team worked efficiently, using all of their expertise. Installation took 2 days, 1 day for each carport. Finally, the fitters gave the canopies a final wipe down ready for Lovell to inspect.
Following the installation, Lovell Homes were extremely happy with the free-standing carports and were surprised at how quickly the canopies were erected and completed.
