Phew, what a week! It has been an absolute scorcher out there, but a bit of summer heat wasn’t going to stop the team from delivering something truly spectacular.
This week’s project was extra special because we were returning to a loyal customer, Nick, years after we completed his last canopy. There is no greater compliment in this business than a client calling you back for round two—it safe to say he was over the moon with our previous work, and we couldn’t wait to get started on his latest vision.
The Challenge: A Creative Space in Need of Help
Nick is a talented artist who uses his old, characterful brick-built garage as his personal art studio. The issue? It was capped off with an old, rotten wooden roof and a failing canopy that were doing his creativity (and his artwork) no favors.
Nick needed a space that was secure, weather-proof, and flooded with natural light. This wasn’t a job for an off-the-shelf kit. This required true bespoke craftsmanship.
Engineering the Perfect Fit
We carefully dismantled and cleared away the old canopy before getting to work on a custom-engineered solution designed to blend seamlessly with the existing brickwork.
Here is how we brought this bespoke build to life:
- Smart Structural Alignment: We utilised his existing, sturdy brick wall to fix the new canopy, seamlessly integrating the new structure with the old garage.
- Extra Internal Support: Inside the art studio, we installed heavy-duty, bolt-down footplates to give the entire structure maximum stability and peace of mind.
- Custom-Cut Fascia: To maintain sleek, clean lines, the bespoke fascia was precision-cut on-site to perfectly suit the unique arch of the rafters.
- Tapered Polycarbonate: The roof profile was highly unique, requiring every single corner to be expertly tapered and cut to guarantee a flawless, watertight fit.

- Structure Color: 9005 Jet Black (for a sharp, modern, industrial-chic frame)
- Glazing: Clear Polycarbonate (perfect for letting in maximum natural light without the glare)
