We love a local project, and our recent installation right here in Solihull was an absolute cracker.
Our customer, Jon, came to us with a clear, ambitious vision. He wanted to protect his two cars parked proudly in front of his large double garage, but he didn’t want a structure that would clutter his driveway or block his view.
Here is how we turned Jon’s big vision into a stunning reality.
The Vision: Maximum Space, Minimum Fuss
When you have a large driveway, you want to maintain that open, premium feel. Jon’s requirement was a simple H-curve freestanding canopy, but the dimensions were nothing short of “mahoosive”—a grand 7 x 7 meters.
Covering a span that wide usually requires a forest of support posts, but clever engineering saved the day:
- Only 5 posts in total: We kept the structure incredibly stable without overcrowding the driveway.
- Unobstructed views: By using just 2 posts on the right-hand side, we ensured Jon’s view looking out remains completely clear and open.
Blending In: RAL 6009 Fir Green
A structure of this size needs to complement the home, not clash with it. Jon wanted to match his existing garage door colour while paying homage to the beautiful, lush greenery of the surrounding Solihull area.
The perfect solution? RAL 6009 Fir Green.
To give it that seamless, built-in look, the canopy was expertly sealed directly to the the garage with the curved trim. It genuinely looks like it was designed to be there from day one.
The Fine Details: Hidden Drainage
We believe the smartest engineering is the kind you can’t see. To keep the sleek lines of the H-curve completely uninterrupted, we integrated custom internal downpipes:
- Right Rear & Front Left placement: Keeps water away from the main thoroughfares.
- Custom exit points: Fabricated to discharge exactly where Jon requested for seamless water management.
The Verdict
Jon now has the ultimate setup: full weatherproof protection for both of his vehicles, a colour match that looks top-tier, and a massive, open span that keeps his driveway looking spacious and modern.
