Large bespoke Patio Canopy installed in Essex

Our customer David contacted us with the requirement of a patio canopy that covers his whole top decking area. David wanted to be able to walk from his breakfast room to his pool/gym room whilst keeping dry under one of our canopies. It was extremely important to David that the canopy would be structurally sound, and able to withstand snow and wind load.

After a number of conversations with our sales and technical team, David decided to go ahead with a site survey so that we could scan the area and create a 3D video walkthrough for him and his wife. The 3D visual showed them that we could design the canopy so that it fits the space perfectly, covering the desired area. As well as this, the visual showcased the aesthetics reassuring David that the canopy would look stunning.

David requested for his canopy to be powder-coated in 2 different colours as he wanted the canopy to look stylish and contemporary but different. Therefore he opted for  RAL 3006 oxide red for the posts and RAL 7016 for the gutter, beams and rafters.

Bronze polycarbonate was selected for the roof material as David wanted to create a shaded area and the bronze also soften the overall look. Another benefit of bronze polycarbonate is that because it’s darker, it hides bird excrement, fallen debris and leaves from nearby trees very effectively.

The final price for the solution was as expected and once David placed his order, our design engineers quickly started the engineering drawings. We had to check that the drawings included particular custom elements of the solution such as wall-attached cranked posts, wall bars and trims.

Drawings sign off:

The drawings were signed off by David and before we knew it the canopy had entered the manufacturing process.

Once the large patio canopy had been bespoke manufactured, we organised an installation date with David. Once installation started, the canopy took shape quite quickly considering the size of the canopy. The installation took 5 days in total due to the very long posts, size of the canopy and the restricted access. The final day was spent glazing the canopy roof with polycarbonate.

David and his wife were relieved to have a canopy solution that ticked all of their boxes. Stunning, aesthetically pleasing, custom designed and structurally sound.
