They say good things come in small packages, and our latest installation in Goring is proof. While it might not be the largest structure we’ve ever built, this bespoke logstore canopy is a masterclass in blending functionality with high-end aesthetics.
The goal was simple: create a dedicated, dry space for timber that looks like it was always part of the original architecture.
Seamless Integration by Design
One of the biggest concerns with adding a structure next to a home is “light theft.” To combat this, we opted for clear glass panes in the roof. This allows maximum light to flood the area, ensuring the surrounding building and windows aren’t plunged into shadow.
To achieve that “built-in” feel, we focused on the details:
- The Perfect Match: Finished in 9005 Jet Black, the frame perfectly mimics the existing window profiles.
- The “Crank” Factor: Rather than a standard straight post, we custom-engineered the posts to crank around the soffit. This allows for a seamless, tight fit against the building.
- Hidden Symmetry: Even the external downpipe follows this “cranked” path, following the lines of the post for a clean, uncluttered silhouette.
Engineering the Details
This canopy is fixed securely on one side to the existing structure, with two posts set firmly into the ground. To ensure it’s weather-tight, we utilised Kappion sealing trims fixed directly into the existing fascia. This creates a professional, leak-proof seal that DIY solutions just can’t match.
The Result: A stylish, unobtrusive addition that protects the logs while enhancing the property’s curb appeal.
