The Kent Project: Precision Engineering Meets “Invisible” Installation

When a client in Kent approached us, their challenge was a common one: a beautiful property surrounded by established trees. While the greenery is stunning, the local bird population and falling tree sap were wreaking havoc on their vehicles.

We didn’t just want to give them a roof; we wanted to provide a contemporary architectural addition that looked like it had always been there.

The Design: The “Half-Curve” Aesthetic

For this site, we selected our Half-Curve design. It is the definition of “elegant and crisp.” The sweep of the roof provides a soft silhouette that avoids looking like a heavy industrial structure, yet it is wide enough to comfortably protect two cars side-by-side.

Technical Specifications:

  • Frame Colour: RAL 9005 Jet Black
  • Roofing: 10mm Bronze Polycarbonate
  • Infill Wall: Contemporary Rhombus Thermo Wood
  • Capacity: Full double-car width

Protection with a Premium Edge

The side wall isn’t just for show. By using Rhombus Thermo Wood, we’ve added a layer of lateral protection against driving rain and wind-blown debris. This specific timber is heat-treated for longevity and stability, providing a high-end, secure feel that complements the Jet Black steel perfectly.

“The goal was simple: Keep the cars free from the elements, but make the structure look like a natural extension of the driveway.”

The “Kappion Finish”: It Look Like It Grew There

The real magic of a Kappion install is in the ground. We see too many carports with messy concrete “puddles” at the base of the posts. That’s not how we work.

Precision Cutting: We cut the foundation holes evenly and precisely around the post locations.

Structural Integrity: The canopy is concreted deep into the ground for maximum stability.

The Cold Lay Technique: Once the structure is set, we use a cold-lay tarmac process to match the original driveway surface.

As the owner noted, the finish is so seamless that the posts look as if they “grew there” rather than being bolted on as an afterthought.

    Intelligent Drainage

In Kent, you have to plan for the rain. We designed this system with opposite outlets to work with the natural topography of the site:

    • Rear Outlet: Deposits directly onto the grass terrain at the back of the property.
    • Front Outlet: Positioned to take advantage of the natural downfall of the tarmac, directing water straight into the existing ACCO drain near the house.

    Is your driveway suffering?

If tree sap, bird droppings, and the British weather are ruining your morning commute, it’s time for a Kappion upgrade. This Kent installation proves that you don’t have to sacrifice style for protection.
