These are two of many already installed for Arwyn at Gwella Dyfodol Pobl. These canopies will be used as outdoor eating/seating areas at one of their many colleges around Wales. Arwyn got back in touch after we installed 2 more canopies at their Colwyn Bay site back in June 2021. Arwyn wanted a quotation for 2 seating area canopies. He was happy with the quotation provided and went ahead with a site survey.
During the site survey, Arwyn showed our surveyor (Gary) the locations where he wanted the 2 canopies to be installed. He wanted one Double curved canopy measured at 12 metres wide (2 x 6m curves) x 5.9 metres deep and one Double curved canopy measured at 10 metres wide (2 x 5m curves) x 4 metres deep. So they are both fairly sizeable. Arwyn trusted our expertise so left the little details up to us.
After the survey:
Our designer went full steam ahead and got both visuals ready for Arywn to review…both designs were of course ok and approved by Arwyn. The 12 x 5.9m canopy has downpipes integrated into the posts to keep the furniture to a minimum. The 10 x 4m canopy has 3 external downpipes, requested by Arwyn. Both structures had been galvanised, but not powder coated. This is a great way to keep the costs down when aesthetics isn’t a priority.
Arwyn signed the final canopy drawings off for both canopies, both galv only. Arwyn decided on Opal polycarbonate for the roof glazing which would complement the framework nicely and is most effective for hiding debris from the sky and surrounding trees whilst protecting everyone underneath from UV rays, the harsh sunshine and ever-changing weather conditions.
Once a manufactured delivered date had been confirmed, our project manager arranged with Arwyn a suitable date for the erection of the two seating area canopies.
Finally, the installation of Arwyn’s 2 seating area canopies was fairly straightforward. Both structures had been fully installed within 3 days. The only difficulty was carrying the steels from the vans to the locations of installation. After a final wipe down and walk around, we handed the canopies over to Arwyn and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Glynllifon College. It’s always a pleasure working with them!
