Just yesterday, our team put the finishing touches on a fantastic new project for Gavin down in Hemel Hempstead.
Gavin is passionate about his cars—his absolute “pride and joy.” However, he was facing a constant battle against nature. The mature trees surrounding his driveway were leaving a significant amount of sap and residue on his vehicles, making keeping them clean a near-impossible task.
He needed a robust solution that wouldn’t just protect one car, but provide comfortable coverage for two.
The Challenge: Space to Manoeuvre
The challenge with many standard carports is post placement. Gavin and his family needed to be able to drive around the curve of the driveway and swing into the parking area freely, without the constant worry of colliding with a structural post on the block paving.
The Solution: The Q-Curve Inset Post Canopy
The answer was our beautiful Q-Curve canopy, specifically utilising an “Inset Post” design.
As you can see from the photo of the finished installation, this design is a game-changer for driveways with tight turns. We engineered the structure to cantilever, removing the need for a corner post on the driving line. To maximise this effect, we even extended the main front beam by an extra 800mm, taking it right over onto the grass verge.
The result? A completely clear, unobstructed driving zone that makes parking a breeze.
It’s All in the Details
We know that practicalities are just as important as aesthetics.
- Smart Drainage: At the lowest point of the canopy curve, we installed our premium Planja guttering system. We neatly engineered this to empty directly into the existing guttering on Gavin’s wooden garage. The result is seamless drainage with absolutely no splashing.
- Bronze Polycarbonate Roof: To combat the tree issue, Gavin opted for our bronze polycarbonate roofing material. Not only does it add a touch of style that complements the wooden garage, but its tint is also excellent at hiding any tree residue that lands on top between cleans.
- Integrated Lighting: The setup is ready for all seasons. Gavin already had PIR motion-sensor lights installed on the front of his garage, which will perfectly illuminate the new undercover space during the dark winter months.
The final result is a sleek, modern structure that solves a major headache for Gavin. It integrates so well with the property that it truly looks “like it grew there.”
