Carport Canopy with WPC infills installed in Bristol

Keith approached us with the requirement for a long driveway carport/canopy to be installed at the side of his property. The carport canopy needed to be fairly long so that it would stretch the length of his property, all the way up to the garage. Keith wanted as much privacy as possible for when he is parked and/or working on the driveway. Keith didn’t want the canopy roof to touch his garage, so he decided to finish the roof off in line with the back of his property and opted to carry on the infill panel all the way to his garage.

The initial visit was extremely straightforward. This canopy design was fairly simple… all we had to do was ensure that the canopy would fit the space and create a dry area for Keith. We used our BLK 360 Leica to scan the area. The scanner creates a panoramic image that can also be viewed in point-cloud. We transfer the point-cloud into our designing software and begin creating the canopy. This ensures that the canopy will fit into place, perfectly.

Additionally, we could position specific legs and down-pipes to ensure that they would not be too obstructive, and make sure we could attach wall attached posts to the property and posts to the opposing wall.

We could offer Keith a built-to-last solution as all of our carports come with full structural calculations. Keith, therefore, knew his long driveway carport canopy would be extremely safe since we provided the wind, snow and moment loading calculations.

The long walkway canopy drawings were signed off and Keith chose RAL No.9005 (Jet Black) as the colour for his canopy to be powder coated in. This complimented Keith’s property really well, offering a modern stunning finish. Keith wanted something low maintenance, so he opted for WPC composite board infills. They’re easy to clean, wipe down and they have a long shelf life. Opal polycarbonate was chosen for the roof, further to the fact of Keith wanting his driveway area to be private.

Once a manufactured date had been confirmed, the installation team arranged to do the groundworks and deliver the canopy in preparation for the installation.

Once we started the installation the canopy took shape quite quickly and by the end of the first day, the complete frame was bolted together and squared up. The second day involved glazing the canopy frame with the polycarbonate, installing the WPC composite board infills, checking/securing all fixings, tidying and wiping down. Our team installed Keith’s canopy in just two days!

In conclusion, it was evident when doing the final walk around with Keith that he was overjoyed with his long driveway carport canopy.
