This week, the team completed a standout installation in Farnham—a massive, high-specification canopy designed for heavy-duty commercial use. Measuring a “whopping” 7 metres wide by 6 metres in length, this galvanised steel structure was engineered to provide a secure, weather-protected environment for high-value plant machinery.

Clever Solutions for Tight Spaces
Every site comes with its own set of challenges. For this project, the structure was positioned just 200mm away from an existing rear building.
To ensure a seamless fit and maximum security, we fixed the 16mm polycarbonate walls on the inside of the bays. This clever design choice allowed us to complete the install despite the tight external clearance. By hiding the fixings inside the channels of the sheets, we achieved two things:
Enhanced Security: The panels cannot be easily tampered with from the outside.
Clean Aesthetics: The finish is incredibly “pretty” and professional, with no visible external bolts on the panels.
Designed for Functionality & Airflow
A structure of this size needs to “breathe.” We installed the vertical walls with a perfectly aligned 150mm gap from the floor. This allows for consistent airflow and ventilation, preventing moisture buildup while maintaining full overhead protection.
- The Walls: 16mm seamless vertical polycarbonate. We used a clear but slightly frosted finish to give the client that “secure feeling” when storing expensive plant vehicles—offering privacy without losing natural light.
- The Roof: 10mm Opal polycarbonate, which keeps the workspace bright and airy while providing essential shade and protection from the elements.
Integrated Drainage & Heavy-Duty Foundations
Because the client intended to use the area for washing down plant vehicles after a hard day’s work, water management was a priority.
- Hidden Drainage: We utilized internal downpipes tucked inside the front two posts. These face inward, directing water directly to the drainage system located in the centre of the concrete pad.
- Rock-Solid Foundation: The canopy is bolted to a level concrete pad using high-strength chemical anchor fixes, ensuring the structure remains stable regardless of the weather.
This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful engineering can turn a tight, functional space into a high-end storage and maintenance hub.
