When it comes to home design, the entrance is more than just a doorway—it is a statement of intent. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a homeowner in Hale who wanted to transform their main entrance into something truly grand. The goal was to provide high-end weather protection that complemented the bold, classic aesthetic of their property.
The solution? The Qubik Entrance Canopy.

The Design: Architectural Contrast
The Qubik is one of our most popular designs because of its unique “heavy-set” silhouette. This particular installation features chunky, robust support posts that provide a sense of permanence and strength. To balance this, the structure utilises a thinner fascia along the roofline.
This contrast is a hallmark of modern architecture—combining the “industrial-chic” look of heavy framing with the sleek, clean lines of a slim profile. Finished in a premium powder-coated Anthracite Grey, the canopy offers a contemporary edge that looks sharp against both traditional brickwork and modern rendering.
Technical Specifications
Every project we undertake is bespoke, and the dimensions for this Hale installation were carefully calculated to provide maximum coverage without overwhelming the front of the house:
- Footprint: 3m deep by 4.6m wide, creating a generous sheltered “lobby” area outside the front door.
- Height: A clearance of 2.3m at the lowest point, ensuring the space feels open and airy while maintaining total protection from driving rain.
- Roofing Material: We installed an Opal Polycarbonate roof. Unlike clear glazing, opal polycarbonate diffuses natural light, reducing glare and preventing the area from becoming too hot in the summer. It also has the practical benefit of hiding organic debris (like fallen leaves) from view from below.
The Finishing Touches: Lions and Hidden Engineering
A structure of this quality deserves a grand setting. This Qubik canopy now proudly sits at the main entrance, flanked by two majestic lion statues that act as sentinels for the home. The grey tones of the canopy and the stone of the statues create a sophisticated, curated look.
However, the real “secret” to the Qubik’s clean aesthetic lies in what you don’t see. Like all of our premium carports and canopies, this model features concealed downpipes.
Why this matters: Traditional canopies often have unsightly plastic guttering and pipes strapped to the exterior. With our Qubik range, the rainwater is directed through internal channels hidden within the chunky support posts. This ensures that the sleek lines of the Anthracite frame are never broken by messy plumbing.
Conclusion
This Hale installation is a testament to how functional home improvements can also be works of art. Whether it’s protecting guests from a downpour or simply adding a layer of architectural “wow-factor,” the Qubik delivers on every front.
