Our customer John approached us with a requirement for a carport attached to the side of his garage. As John’s fence tapers outwards, we have the ability to taper the carport in line with his fence. This really utilises the space available, providing more room for his vehicle. The tapered option will of course cost a little bit more, but is definitely the best option when space is limited.
After our site survey with John, we began designing his carport using our pointcloud technology. Tapered carports tend to be more difficult to structurally calculate and design, but for us the design was fairly straightforward as we have a great deal of past experience. Following the site survey we determined the exact post heights and widths needed for John’s tapered carport. John arranged for his driveway to be shuttered and concreted after installation, allowing us to set the posts in concrete with rebar for ultimate strength.
John signed the final drawings off and requested the structure to be powder coated in Traffic White (9016), which would complement and blend with the properties fascia. John chose clear polycarbonate for the roof glazing as it allows the maximum amount of light transmission to flow through, making it light and airy underneath the canopy.
As John wanted to harvest the rain water from his property roof into his water buts, we finished the downpipes just above his rear wall allowing him to just that. Once a manufactured date had been confirmed, the installation team arranged a suitable date for John’s carport to be delivered and erected.
Installation of the canopy was easygoing due to the accessibility of the installation location, our installation teams planning and also as a result of our BLK360 Leica scanner used during our site survey. The Kappion fitting team were professional, efficient and the tapered carport was installed in just two days.
Once the installation of John’s Carport was complete, our fitting team had a final wipe down and hand over with our customer, who was sincerely impressed with the finished product.
