When it comes to protecting a “pride and joy,” a standard, off-the-shelf carport simply won’t do. Today, we put the finishing touches on a truly unique installation in Stafford for our customer, Damian.
Damian’s goal was clear: he needed a structure that offered maximum security and weather protection for his motorhome, without compromising on the sleek, contemporary aesthetic of his home. Precision Engineering: The 79-Degree Taper
One of the most striking features of this build is its footprint. Most driveways aren’t perfect rectangles, and Damian’s was no exception. To ensure the motorhome fit perfectly on its designated concrete pad, we had to follow the line of the planter wall at the rear.
This resulted in a complex, tapered design. The canopy transitions from a standard rectangle at the front to an angled rectangle at the rear, featuring a precise 79-degree angle. By custom-manufacturing the frame to these exact specifications, we maximised the covered area while ensuring the structure looks like a natural extension of the property.
Security Meets Style
Security was a top priority for Damian. To keep his motorhome safe, we installed:
- Double Swing Gates: Wide-opening gates that allow for easy manoeuvring of a large vehicle while providing a solid physical barrier.
- Spaced Aluminium Box Sections: These were integrated into the gates and sides to provide immediate security while maintaining airflow.
Future-Proofing for the Elements
Damian has a long-term vision for this project. While the aluminium sections provide security now, the frame has been designed to accommodate composite infills at a later date. Once installed, these will completely block “driving weather,” ensuring that wind-blown rain and debris never reach his motorhome, keeping it in showroom condition year-round.
The Finishing Touches: 7016 Anthracite Grey
To match the modern aesthetic of the property, the entire structure was finished in 7016 Anthracite Grey. This was paired with our contemporary wrap-around fascia, which hides the roof’s edge and provides a clean, architectural silhouette.
We also focused on the “invisible” details that make a Kappion canopy premium:
- Internal Outlets: All guttering and downpipes are tucked away inside the legs of the canopy.
- Direct Drainage: The water is deposited directly into a ground-level soakaway, keeping the driveway dry and slip-free even during heavy Stafford downpours.
