Jonathan approached us with a need for a free-standing double carport canopy, which he wanted to be installed at the front of his double garage. With winter approaching, Jonathan wanted to ensure the protection of his vehicles from the weather elements. To further protect his vehicles, Jonathan opted to have stormshield infills, which is temporary solution. The stormshield infills can be kept in place if required.
Following Jonathan’s enquiry, we organised a site visit, where we could conduct a survey. During our survey, we used our 360 leica scanner to collect the measurements of the needed area. This data is used for engineering CAD drawings.
Jonathan gladly accepted our final price, then we engineered the CAD drawings and swiftly sent them over to Jonathan to make sure that he was happy with our design and dimensions. Jonathan signed the final drawings off quickly as our free-standing carport design was very straight-forward.
With Jonathan’s carport extruding the primary elevation of his property, planning permission was required. At first planning permission was rejected due to the scheme. We then changed the scheme so the structure would be cladded in timber, which was approved by planning. As you can see by the images, the cladding hasn’t yet been applied. Jonathan will source a local tradesman to complete it.
Our customer wanted the structure to be powder coated in Jet Black Textured (RAL9005) which would exaggerate the contemporary and modern style of our carports. Opal polycarbonate was chosen for the roof glazing, giving it a modern and contemporary feel. We tapered the gutters into the down pipes, allowing water to exit into the existing soak-away. Once a manufactured date had been confirmed, the installation team arranged a suitable date for the canopy to be delivered and erected.
Installation of the canopy was straightforward as the carport was free-standing and the ground works involved were not complicated. Our fitting team worked efficiently using all of their expertise and the main structured of the carport was installed on the first day. On the second day the team glazed the roof with polycarbonate, fitted the stormshield infills and cleaned the canopy down, ready for Jonathan to inspect it.
Following the installation, Jonathan was extremely happy with his finished free-standing double carport canopy.
