Our customer John approached us with the requirement for a long double carport at the rear of his property. He wanted the canopy to cover two cars, one in front of another. As a result of this, the canopy needed to be 10 metres long in order to cover both cars and 3.5 metres wide.
Firstly, aesthetics were essential for John, as the carport would be visible to John’s neighbours even though the canopy is at the rear of the house. In addition, the long double carport is also visible from Johns windows.
The initial visit was extremely straightforward. After measuring up and taking into consideration the surroundings, we designed a canopy which complemented Johns property. We positioned specific legs and down pipes to ensure that they would not be too obstructive.
Our bespoke design protects the two vehicles from the harsh weather such as torrential rainfall, ice and snowfall whilst fitting perfectly into the area. In addition to this, we could offer John a built-to-last solution as all of our carports come with full structural calculations. John, therefore, knew his carport would be extremely safe since we provided the wind, snow and moment loading calculations.
The long double carport drawings were signed off and John chose RAL No.8011 (Nut Brown) as the colour for his carport to be powder coated in. This helped the canopy blend into the surrounding vegetation, gravel drive and Johns property whilst also offering a modern stunning finish.
Bronze polycarbonate was chosen for the roof to shade his vehicles and soften the overall look. Another benefit of Bronze polycarbonate is that because it’s darker, it hides bird excrement, fallen debris and leaves from trees much better than clear polycarbonate does.
Once a manufactured date had been confirmed, the installation team arranged to do the groundwork and deliver the canopy in preparation for the installation.
Once we started the installation, the canopy took shape quite quickly and by the end of the first day the completed frame was bolted together and squared up. The second day involved glazing the canopy frame with the multi-wall polycarbonate, checking/securing all fixings, tidying and wiping down. The carport was easily installed within the two days that we had allowed for it.
In conclusion, it was evident when doing the final walk around with John that he was extremely happy with his long double carport.
